THE CORONA KLANGENDUM RECORDINGS

Because of Corona and the postponing of lots of live-events, Klangendum decided to do some releases -with the funds that were otherwise spend on live projects. For some of these release we got some extra help from Popunie Rotterdam and Fonds Voor Podiumkunsten. A big thanks to them.

At the moment (october 2020) the releases are in the factory so we’re eagerly awaiting the real stuff… could take a bit though… so the release dates are not set yet.

First Release;

Cantos Deus 7″ ‘I’m Your Child’

second release;

Coolhaven 7″ ‘Mijn Tijd’

third release;

GJ Prins & LG Simonis; Mother of Exit (CD)

Tuinconcerten

Interesse:? Mail klangendum@xs4all.nl

14 December 2019: Instruments Make Play Fair

Instruments Make Play is a platform for the inventors and players of newly invented, unconventional musical instruments. On Saturday December 14, from 2 PM to 8 PM, Instruments Make Play presents an extensive program in WORM, which is basically 50/50 a festival and a fair, for both public and makers. Throughout the day there are continuous performances and showcases to see and listen to, in addition to the many installations that are on view. The fair is a meeting point for like-minded people that build their own musical instruments (which in some cases will be for sale) and audiences alike.

READYMADE

Readymade is an Improv Lab

Besides the regular Vrooom concerts (that happen once a month) we have started a concert series called Readymade. It could happen on several location and is supposed to be an event that acts as a playground for (mainly) Rotterdam musicians to play improvised music.

It should function as a try out/meeting point for all Rotterdam musicians that dare to play this stuff… But also as a Lab for trying our different approaches to improv music. Our latest graze is to get movers/dancers involved in a setting with musicians that are not afraid to follow their limbs every now and then.

RadioRadio

RADIO RADIO vrijdag 17 Januari 2014

Radiofonisch live-hoorspel; Yannis Kyriakides en Saskia De Jong

Onderwerp; Very Low Frequencies met Joyce Hinterding, David Haines

Speciale Gast; Knut Aufermann

RADIO RADIO Zaterdag 22 Juni 2013

Radiofonisch live-hoorspel; Han Buhrs en Nora Mulder spelen; Fake Tanken’

Onderwerp; Geluidswandelingen met Michiel Huijsmans en Renate Zentschnig

Speciale gast; Hessel Veldman

RADIO RADIO vrijdag 17 Januari 2012

Radiofonisch live-hoorspel; The Tobacconists

Onderwerp; Daniela dePaulis & de radiotelescoop van Dwingeloo

Speciale Gasten; Truus De Groot, Vincent Denieul

NZZN Festival

THE NZZN FESTIVAL. ABOUT! (october, 9, 10, 11 , 2015)

NZZN (North-South-South-North) is a  3-day festival initiated by DE PLAYER and VROOOM, organised in collaboration with other Rotterdam-based organisations / venues that operate on the fringes of the Rotterdam subculture;  Koffie & Ambacht (Le Sud), MiMa, Poortgebouw, foundation B.a.d, PAE, Noodlebar, Roodkapje, Wolfart Projectspace, De Nieuwe Ruimte.                                               The festival highlights the network that is flourishing between these platforms; not merely to cement and emphasize the common grounds, but also to celebrate the creative nucleus. The small-scaled, decentralized events that take place in characteristic and sometimes unusual locations, are particularly beneficial for a lively, diverse cultural climate; just outside the defined city centre borders there is plenty of room for risktaking, experimentation and adventure.                                                                                                                NZZN seeks to map out and showcase this peripheral Rotterdam of leftfield music, sound art, improvisation, and performance art with a vibrant mix of international and local artists. The festival takes places in various locations in the North and South of Rotterdam, in walking distance between the locations.

HET NZZN FESTIVAL. OVER!  (oktober, 9, 10, 11 , 2015)

Hosts: Frameworkradio: 20130505.
This edition of framework:afield, entitled dirty tracks, has been produced in Germany by Stefan Paulus. Stefan writes about the process of piecing this work together from his psychogeographic drifts:

// this show is dedicated to the unknown musicians I have recorded over the past years during what guy debord describes as ‘dérives’ or ‘psychogeographic drifts’: the experimental exploration of the environment through coincidence and other methods to disturb your normal behavior  or motivations as a pedestrian or car driver. Drifting is the search for an ecstatic moment or ‘ecstatic truth’, like werner herzog says. If I get on a track – I try to document what I find //

Our man from Czechia in Ireland, Slavek Kwi, was in Africa and made these two pieces for us.  We edited them so you won’t here the transition from one track to another;
track one lasts about 45 minutes, the second one fifteen minutes.
They were recorded during “sonic mmabolela 203” , a project/residency by Slavek Kwi in Limpopo, South Africa.
Thanks to Francisco Lopez and James Webb for organizing the residency. (there’s more from where this came from…). Special thanks to the National Concert Hall in Dublin for kind support.

Brussels Trip door Adam Bohman.
Jingles by Lukas Simonis.

“Leben Zwischen den Wänden” is a radio-sculpture from Lale Rodgarkia-Dara for the festival Phonofemme 2013, Vienna, 26.10.2013 . It is dealing with communal housing in Vienna and physically took place in two spaces there. It is the recording of an electro acoustic house-concert in a communal flat in Vienna, mixed with a public listening and arrangement at the festival, and also containing the works of other soundartists from the UK, NL and New Sealand.

radia 442 JetFM / Cueillette by Luc Kerleo

more info;

Jet FM asked Luc Kerleo to invade her studios. Several sound-objects were placed in the offices, corridors, toilettes… Curiosly the broadcast studios were not used. Then some people were invited to visit this exhibition made of artificial noises bursting in those different locations around the studios, playing with its acoustic, its visual ambiency, its context… The result is a 28 minutes radio show where Luc Kerleo explain his work and where you can hear the sounds of the exhibition mixed with the music which was on air at that time and some real noises due to people working in the radio.

from signal to space
Luc Kerleo act as a sculptor. He works with moving and instable things like sound, electricity, mechanical movements, liquids and gaz, thoughts. He mainly works with sound for two reasons. First, compared to visual, sound is a discrete manifestation. One of his preoccupations is to make people feel things without having to recover and hide a part of the reality with objects which blocks up or invade the viewing field. Furthermore by listening reality he develops thoughts and reflexion structures which complete our cultural perception of what surrounds us, this perception which on a cultural aspect is mainly based on the visual. Notably the sounding requires us to consider not only what is in front of us but also, and equally, what surrounds us. But then the stake for him is the same than for artists acting in visual. Since it is about representing what surrounds and constitutes us. History and actuality of visual arts (painting, sculpture, installation, drawings, performances) constitute the territory to which Luc Kerleo refers and in which he moves around. Because they are bridges between thinking and action in reality.
